"We are also building a Charly's, a C-store with a Sbarro pizza, Bojangles, and a Black Bear Diner all on that corner," Jeanette L. Davis of LV Petroleum told What Now Las Vegas in September, while explaining why the company picked a Rally's for the same site. The corner she meant is West Craig Road at Valley Drive. What Now describes it as a new retail development near North Mesa Plaza.
That's five food and fuel businesses on one corner, all from one operator, and all scheduled to open this fall. They're arriving in the same stretch of weeks that Craig Ranch Regional Park, at the other end of the road, hosts its two biggest Halloween events. A Craig Road weekend used to center on the park. This fall the west end is getting a stop of its own.
The Park End: Taco Fest and Trunk or Treat Share One Weekend
Craig Ranch Regional Park sits at 628 W. Craig Road, and the City of North Las Vegas calendar puts two back-to-back events there starting tomorrow.
| Event | Day | Hours | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taco Fest | Friday, Oct. 30 | 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. | Ticketed |
| Taco Fest | Saturday, Oct. 31 | Noon to 10 p.m. | Ticketed |
| Trunk or Treat | Saturday, Oct. 31 | 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. | Free entry |
| Taco Fest | Sunday, Nov. 1 | Noon to 8 p.m. | Ticketed |
Taco Fest tickets and details are on the Viva Taco Fest site, which the City's Taco Fest listing links to directly.
The City calls its Trunk or Treat "the largest Trunk or Treat in North Las Vegas." It promises costumes, candy, carnival rides and a car show, and you don't need to register. Questions go to (702) 633-2418.
Saturday is the day both events overlap. Taco Fest runs from noon until 10 p.m., and Trunk or Treat fills the 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. window inside that stretch. A family can go to both at the same park on the same evening. Expect parking and traffic along this part of Craig Road to be at their busiest that night.
The West End: One Operator, Five Businesses
At Valley Drive, the new businesses take up a short run of addresses. Each has been reported separately, and together they look like this:
| Address | Business | What's been announced |
|---|---|---|
| 4308 W. Craig Rd. | Conoco with a US Market that appears to include a Sbarro | Construction was nearly done in mid-September, opening expected this fall |
| 4360 W. Craig Rd. | Rally's | Opening expected this fall |
| 4372 W. Craig Rd. | Charleys Cheesesteaks | Opening expected this fall |
| 4388 W. Craig Rd. | Black Bear Diner | Was targeting the end of October |
| Same corner, storefront address not yet announced | Bojangles | Named by LV Petroleum as part of the site |
LV Petroleum runs many of the Conoco stations around the Las Vegas Valley, according to What Now Las Vegas. The company also has a habit of pairing restaurants with its fuel stops. In What Now's Charleys report, an excerpt from the company's website says its locations partner with brands such as Sbarro, KFC and Black Bear Diner "to provide customers with convenient access to their favorite meals." The Craig and Valley corner follows that pattern at a larger scale. It puts a sit-down diner, two quick-service counters, a fried-chicken drive-thru and a gas station market on the same corner.
Why the Mix Matters More Than Any Single Opening
Each of the five covers a different kind of meal, and together they cover most of the day.
- Black Bear Diner is the sit-down option and the brand's first North Las Vegas location. Its VP of Development, Nicole Durham-Mallory, told What Now Las Vegas that "breakfast is a big part of who we are," and she pointed to Bear's Choice and The GRIZZ, plus comfort plates like Chicken Fried Steak, homemade Meatloaf and slow-roasted Pot Roast.
- Rally's sits at the opposite end of the speed scale. What Now notes that the brand's format uses two drive-thru lanes and walk-up windows and skips indoor seating.
- Charleys Cheesesteaks will be the brand's second North Las Vegas shop, serving cheesesteaks, fries and real-fruit lemonades.
- The Conoco's US Market adds pizza by way of Sbarro.
- Bojangles brings chicken to the corner. An LV Petroleum hiring notice for Bojangles lists weekday walk-in interviews at the Conoco address, 4308 W. Craig Rd., starting Oct. 14, 2026.
Durham-Mallory described what the company hopes the diner becomes: "a welcoming gathering place for the community, whether guests are joining us for breakfast with family, lunch with coworkers, or a comforting meal at the end of the day." Once all five open, the corner will cover breakfast, a fast lunch, a family dinner and a late snack without anyone having to leave the lot.
Where Things Stand This Week
None of the five has announced exact hours yet. Black Bear Diner's coming-soon page for 4388 West Craig Road asks visitors to check back for opening updates, and it's the quickest place to see whether the end-of-October target held. Rally's, Charleys and the Conoco have each said only "this fall," and that phrase covers the rest of this year.
Signs have been up since September, and What Now's photos show branded storefronts in place. If you're heading west on Craig after Taco Fest, you'll pass the corner as it comes together.
The Middle of the Road: A Pretzel Stop at North Mesa Plaza
Between the park and the new corner sits North Mesa Plaza, the shopping center on Craig Road at Martin Luther King Boulevard, anchored by Walmart, Ross, Old Navy and Harbor Freight. It's getting a smaller addition of its own. What Now Las Vegas reported in early October that Wetzel's Pretzels is building a shop inside the Walmart Supercenter at 1807 W. Craig Rd., with an opening expected before the end of the year.
With Wetzel's added, new food is going in at three points on one road. The park hosts events, the plaza is getting a quick snack counter, and the Valley Drive corner adds a full set of meal options.
Stringing It Together on Saturday, Oct. 31
Saturday is the only day all the Halloween pieces line up. Here's one way to run it:
- Arrive at Craig Ranch Regional Park after Taco Fest opens at noon.
- Stay for Trunk or Treat, which starts at 6 p.m. and has free entry.
- Leave by 9 p.m., when Trunk or Treat ends, an hour before Taco Fest closes for the night.
- Check Black Bear Diner's coming-soon page before you head west in case you'd like Sunday breakfast at 4388 W. Craig Rd.
Sunday is the last Taco Fest day, with hours from noon to 8 p.m.
November on the City Calendar
Once Halloween weekend is over, the City's calendar moves to Veterans Day and Thanksgiving events, and most are free or a few dollars.
- Saturday, Nov. 7: The Veterans Day BBQ Resource Fair runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Veterans Community & Resource Center, 3050 E. Centennial Parkway. It's free and open to the public.
- Friday, Nov. 20, into Saturday, Nov. 21: The Craig Ranch C-AMP Out brings everyone back to the park's amphitheater from 4 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday. It's free.
- Saturday, Nov. 21, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: The 2026 First Annual Great Turkey Drive is at SkyView Multi-Generational Center & Activity Pool, 3050 E. Centennial Parkway. The fee is $2.
- Saturday, Nov. 21, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.: The Harvest & Harmony Thanksgiving Dinner follows at SkyView for $5.
The C-AMP Out wraps up at 8 a.m. Saturday, which leaves the rest of the morning open for breakfast at the diner farther west on the same road, once it opens.
Craig Road is one of the routes I know best in North Las Vegas, and I'll be watching which of those five storefronts at Valley Drive opens first. If you spot one opening, or you'd like to talk about how this end of Craig Road is changing, reach out to Stacy Peppley. Let's Connect.
